ColdFusion is a YouTube channel with over 2.4 million subscribers that creates short documentaries focused around science, technology, business and history. We were approached by Dagogo, the founder and narrator of ColdFusion videos to refresh the channel's identity. The brand didn't really have a 'logo' in the usual sense, but it did have a strong association with a diamond shape (presented in various forms). This was a feature that needed to remain in the new design.
The result is a slick, contemporary marque comprising of four angled shapes arranged on top of each other to form a unique diamond. Each of the four elements signifies the layered approach within the overall process of creating a ColdFusion video. The icon also visualises the archive that is compiled on the channel over time. A progressive quality is conveyed through the strong angled shapes, reflecting the idea of everyone learning something new and continuing to grow each time they watch a ColdFusion video.
The versatility of the icon allowed us to extend the look into the broader brand language. We created a selection of concept video thumbnails for YouTube.
